Best Overall and Best Value TEAS Study Guide
Kaplan ATI TEAS is our number 1 best overall and best value prep book on our list of the top preparation guides.
Kaplan is very well known in the test preparation world. And this book lives up to its name.
One strong point of this preparation guide is the diagnostic test that you are instructed to take before beginning your studies. This diagnostic test is very good for figuring out your weaknesses on the exam. When you can figure out your weak points, you can better focus your studies to those areas of the exam where you are not as well versed. This saves you time because you are focusing your preparation in areas where you can easily improve and not on areas where you are already at your maximum potential.
Another positive about Kaplan's is the tests tips included within. These techniques really allow you to slip past the tricks the test makers will throw at you on exam day. As you very well may know, a lot of exam writers like to throw in tricks to slip up well versed test takers. This prep guide gives you the skills to slip past those questions. At 456 pages, this prep book also has enough length to go over all of the areas on the exam in depth.
Kaplan's also includes:
1) 170-item diagnostic practice test with feedback to target weak areas for score improvement
2) 500+ realistic practice problems with explanations
3) 2 full-length practice tests, 1 in the book and 1 online
Although having many pages can be a positive for a book, it can sometimes be a negative. Even though this book covers everything you need, in some areas it may go too in depth. This super in depth review can sometimes waste your time helping you to learn to things that you do not need to know.
We rank Kaplan's as our best overall and best value prep book on our list of the top rated TEAS review guides.
- Diagnostic test is good for figuring out your weaknesses so you can focus your preparation time
- Test tips allow you to slip past the trick the test makers will throw at you
- Concept review is in depth and covers everything you need to know
- Somewhat long, sometimes wastes time covering things you do no need to know
#2 Best Overall TEAS Study Guide
ATI TEAS Study Guide Version 6 is our number 2 best overall and best value prep book on our list of the top ranked preparation guides.
One great positive about this prep book is that it eliminates all of the filler and fluff. Some other guides may have a lot more length to supposedly go into more detail on the topics, but they may have more filler and things that you do not need. Since this title is more concise and to the point, it allows you to have a more effective study time. You learn things that are crucial to the exam while ignoring those that are not as essential.
The chapters and sections are also very clearly organized and laid out making it really simple to progress through the different topics of the exam. It is easy to figure out how each topic corresponds with each other.
Another strong point is that the sample questions are very exam-like. You will not be surprised on exam day by questions that seem unfamiliar or that you have not studied for.
This prep book also includes:
1) Over 300 practice questions
2) Test tips and strategies to help you score higher on the test
The one main flaw of this prep book is that there are some minor editing errors and typos in the math section. This may make studying sometimes confusing because you may think that you’re going on the right track or that you got a question correct, but the back of the book mistakenly says that your answer is incorrect.
Although tis prep book has this one weak point, it has many strengths that make up for it. Because of this we rank ATI TEAS Study Guide Version 6 as our number 2 best overall and best value prep book on our list of the top TEAS preparation guides.
- Eliminates the filler and fluff allowing you to have more effective prep time
- Sections are clearly organized and laid out
- Practice questions are very exam-like
- Some editing errors and typos in the math section
#3 Best Overall TEAS Study Guide
ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide is our number 3 best overall prep book on our list of the best TEAS review guides.
At 386 pages, this prep book has enough length to be thorough and detailed in its review of the topics. This detailed review makes sure that you can be confident that you have covered everything that you need to know for exam day.
The organization of the preparation guide also makes the concepts and topics look very easy. This really comforts your mind, allowing you to prepare for longer periods of time, thus increasing your test score.
The well designed layout makes sense and straightforwardly breaks down the material into easily digestible chunks. This makes it simple to go through the concepts to train for the test. If you only have short periods of time to prepare (for example, like in between classes) this preparation guide would be perfect for you.
This prep book also includes:
1) 2 full-length practice tests with detailed explanations of each answer
2) 74 video tutorials to help you review
The one main weak point of this prep book is that some of the practice test questions, especially in the science sections, are easier than the actual test. It would be nice to have some harder questions so that you are potentially over prepared for the exam.
It is not very stress-free on the nerves knowing that you could go into the exam under-prepared. Because of this, we rank ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide as our number 3 best overall prep book on her list of the top prep guides.
- Thorough and detailed review of all test sections
- Well written and has good organization
- Some practice test questions are easier than the actual test
#4 Best Overall TEAS Study Guide
ATI TEAS 6 Study Guide is our 4th best overall prep book on our list of the best TEAS preparation guides.
This prep book is very concise and well laid out. The layout really allows you to gather your thoughts and decipher all of the contents within the chapters. This preparation guide is does read like a textbook at all. It is very easy to get through and has very good organization and flow. With excellent design, the review guide really prepares you for the exam by making sure that you recognize all of the concepts and how they fit in together with each other.
This prep book also teaches you how to apply your knowledge for all of the different segments of the test. Sometimes it may be confusing on the exam whether to apply your different skills to certain test questions. This prep book really lays out a procedure to tackle the test, allowing you to get a higher score on the exam.
This review book also includes:
1) Thorough and detailed review of all test sections
2) 2 full length practice tests
3) A detailed overview of what you need to know for the exam
One main weakness of this preparation book is that there are some factual errors included within the chapters. Although there are some factual errors, they are pretty easy to pick out letting you ignore them, but they are sometimes annoying.
Even with this one flaw, this preparation book still has many strengths. Because of this we rank ATI TEAS 6 Study Guide as our 4th best overall prep book on our list of the top review guides.
- Book is concise, short and well laid out
- Good organization and flow, does not read like a text book
- Teaches you how to apply your knowledge for the different sections of the test

#5 Best Overall TEAS Study Guide
McGraw-Hill TEAS Review is our 5th best overall prep book on our list of the top rated TEAS study guides.
At 464 pages, McGraw-Hill is the longest prep book on our list. With this length, this review guide can provide a thorough and comprehensive overview of all of the subjects on the exam. McGraw-Hill also has the most practice questions out of any other book on our list. You will not have to worry about not getting enough repetitions in for exam day.
McGraw-Hill also includes:
1) 600 review questions to measure your progress
2) Thorough coverage of each of the test’s four core subjects: reading, math, science, and English and language usage
Since the ATI exam group recently came out with a new version, version 6, this review guide is not been updated for that exam. This out-datedness really leaves more to be desired. McGraw-Hill would be one of the top picks on our list if it was up to date.
Also, McGraw-Hill falls victim to some poor editing and typos within. These sometimes leave you confused while studying until you can figure out what the prep book really means. Because of these flaws, McGraw-Hill is our 5th best overall prep book on our list of the top preparation guides.
- Has the most practice questions of any book on our list
- Longest book on our list, most in-depth review
- Not quite as up to date as the other guides on this list
- Poor editing and typos
Our suggestions offer the most budget friendly way to prepare for the exam without burning a hole in your pocket. With the new version of the exam, it is crucial that you pick up an updated guide. Unlike other exams, test guides for the exam are pretty similar in price. Because of this we suggest to:
